Dingeman Kuilman is chairman of the Board of Governors of ArtEZ Institute of the Arts (, one of the major arts educationale institutes in the Netherlands.

With approximately 3,000 students and 850 lecturers and other staff members ArtEZ comprises a broad range of Bachelor’s and Master’s courses in the fine arts, fashion, design, architecture, music, dance, drama and creative writing.

Dingeman has been the managing director of Premsela, the Dutch institute for design and fashion (, from 2003 until 2010. In recent years he has been involved in the founding of several pioneering initiatives like Morf, the Netherlands’ largest design magazine; the Streetlab urban fashion festival; the international portal; and Platform21, a temporary design laboratory in Amsterdam’s Zuidas district (

Dingeman studied graphic design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, worked with renowned graphic designer Anthon Beeke, and was one of the founders of the design firm Caulfield & Tensing. In 1994, Philips Design made him responsible for its worldwide visual communication. Four years later, he moved to FHV/BBDO to concentrate on brand and marketing strategy consulting.

Dingeman’s publications include De schuld van het schildembleem (‘The Shame of the Shield Emblem’, 1991), a biography of the Philips logo, and the poetry collection Sabel en Keel (1991).
